Kagumi Bandung

This is just an update for the status of the spams for this blog. Not an important news by all stretch and imagination, but nevertheless… here you go:

430 out of 451… around 95%! The spams just keep on coming! I understand that spams are an unavoidable part of Internet blogs (and a lot of other Internet-related things also, for that matter), and though at the beginning I was really annoyed by the throngs of spams assaulting my blog, for some reason right now I am now pretty much indifferent about it.

In fact, I enjoy delivering spam messages to the spam folder in Wordpress. It’s strangely addicting, hahaha.

I suppose it’s to be expected since they are, unfortunately, something that cannot be expelled entirely from the blogging world (or even the Internet itself, for that matter), but damn spams are annoying… exquisitely so. To receive news that your blog gets a hundred comments only to find that 99 of them are spams promoting genital enlargement or whatever is a huge irritation.

Even more annoying is when those spams exhibited illegible strings of sentences constructed with seemingly random selection of words and characters. I am still relatively new to the world of blogosphere and hardly an authority on the matter, but I am fairly certain that there are a lot of blog writers out there who are not too happy with the spammers and their junk messages. To spammers out there: get a life, ‘kay?

ps: two spams arrived as I write this piece, hahaha.

Blogging requires time and effort. This is one aspect of blogging that somehow magically escapes my mind when I first started this blog. I just posted whatever in my blog for a while, making it a place collecting uncategorized posts sprinkled with some incoherent mess. Looking back from my first post quite a few while ago, it is safe to say that I am not proud about the attitude I took in regards to this blog.

Let us first talk about some basic information about Bandung. Yes, this might sound boring and yes, this might sound la bit like a lesson for students in elementary school, but please bear with me with a bit.

Bandung, as some of you might have already known, is a city located in West Java, Indonesia—actually, it’s the capital of West Java itself. Practically a neighbor of Indonesia’s capital, Jakarta, it is city well known mostly because of its relatively cooler temperature when compared to most other cities in Indonesia. Some numbers: Bandung is currently seated at number 4 on the list of largest cities in Indonesia, with a population of 2.9 million (in 2007) and over 7.2 million on the greater Bandung regency and metropolitan area. Bandung is approximately 167.27 square kilometers wide, and situated around 768 meters (or 2.520 feet) above sea level.
